Don't Fear The Reaper.....Even though He's Everywhere

Pretty much everyone knows the song (Don't Fear) The Reaper by the Blue Oyster Cult, right? Its haunting guitar, the creepy mid-song solo, and of course, the infamous cowbell. It's a hit on the radio, television, even movies. So, for my comeback post, I wanted to showcase the many times it appears during horror movies of the old, and the present.

Halloween (both the original, and the remake)

In the original, the song plays as Laurie Strode and Annie are driving through Haddonfield. In the remake, the song plays in Judith Myers' room.

The Stand (television miniseries)

The song plays at the beginning of the miniseries, if my memory is correct, as Charles Campion rides into Texas.

Scream (1996)

The song, as an acoustic version performed by Gus, plays in Sidney's bedroom after her boyfriend Billy Loomis climbs in through the window. Possible foreshadowing?

Zombieland (2009)

The song plays in the background as Tallahassee and Wichita are getting flat-out stoned with resident faux zombie, Bill Murray, as they take refuge in his Hollywood mansion.

and of course, no list about (Don't Fear) The Reaper would be complete without including....

More Cowbell (Saturday Night Live, as hosted by Christopher Walken)

The Bruce Dickinson wanted more cowbell. And hell, he got it!
