Scream 4

I finally had the chance to see Scream 4, and I must say.....I personally loved it. I love the original Scream, and the franchise in general, and I felt that this sequal was just the thing that the franchise needed to come back from the grave, 11 years after the last one was released.
Now, I realize that so many other horror blogs, sites, and places have already reviewed this movie, and honestly, there's not much more to say that hasn't already been said by those sites. So, instead of a traditional review, I'm just going to focus on certain things that I observed in the film.

- Okay, so it isn't really in the film, but on all the posters and trailers, Scream is written as Scre4m. Am I the only one really tired of the whole 'numbers as letters' thing? Couldn't it have just been written as Scream 4?

- Rory Culkin. Didn't love his character, but that isn't what I want to talk about. Look at that boy's eyes. Is it just me, but don't his eyes look....well, evil?

- Gale Weathers...I've never been a huge fan of the character. I didn't like her that much in Scream, just because she was a freaking bitch. In this movie, at least her and Sidney got along, but I have to say....she's gotten somewhat idiotic over the years. I mean, why would you go looking for Ghostface all alone? That's practically a death wish. Though, I must say....I loved when she told the weird policewoman that her lemon squares tasted like ass.

-Neve Campbell hasn't changed a bit.

-Hayden Panettiere....her character, Kirby, was interesting. A true horror movie buff. Because of that fact, I must wonder.....why was she stupid enough to fall for Ghostface's trap?

-The Twist ending. There is no picture, of course. But, the twist ending.....I easily figured it out, but that didn't make it any less surprising and effective. It was interesting, awesome, and I enjoyed it.

Don't Fear The Reaper.....Even though He's Everywhere

Pretty much everyone knows the song (Don't Fear) The Reaper by the Blue Oyster Cult, right? Its haunting guitar, the creepy mid-song solo, and of course, the infamous cowbell. It's a hit on the radio, television, even movies. So, for my comeback post, I wanted to showcase the many times it appears during horror movies of the old, and the present.

Halloween (both the original, and the remake)

In the original, the song plays as Laurie Strode and Annie are driving through Haddonfield. In the remake, the song plays in Judith Myers' room.

The Stand (television miniseries)

The song plays at the beginning of the miniseries, if my memory is correct, as Charles Campion rides into Texas.

Scream (1996)

The song, as an acoustic version performed by Gus, plays in Sidney's bedroom after her boyfriend Billy Loomis climbs in through the window. Possible foreshadowing?

Zombieland (2009)

The song plays in the background as Tallahassee and Wichita are getting flat-out stoned with resident faux zombie, Bill Murray, as they take refuge in his Hollywood mansion.

and of course, no list about (Don't Fear) The Reaper would be complete without including....

More Cowbell (Saturday Night Live, as hosted by Christopher Walken)

The Bruce Dickinson wanted more cowbell. And hell, he got it!
